For the hands that feed cattle at 20 below. Winter Chores is our Homeplace Holiday tallow lotion in an 8 oz amber pump bottle, scented with sweet orange, vanilla and cedarwood. Keep it by the kitchen sink or the mudroom door and use it every time you come in from outside.
We raise the cattle on our Montana ranch, then render the tallow in our own plant in Hardin. Small batch, limited for the season.
Why tallow?
- Your skin knows it. Tallow is close to the oils your skin already makes, so it soaks in.
- Made for every day. A lotion pumps out ready to go, so it's easy to grab after every hand wash.
- You can read the label. Five ingredients, every one you know.
- Nothing wasted. It comes from the same Black Angus we raise, cut and eat ourselves.

Questions we get
Lotion or balm?
The lotion is lighter and made for all-day, every-wash use. The whipped balms (Pryor Pine, Frosted Sage) are richer, for extra-dry spots and overnight.
Who makes Winter Chores tallow lotion?
S Ranch Meats, a family ranch and USDA-inspected butcher shop in Hardin, Montana (S Ranch, est. 1948), from our own ranch-raised Black Angus cattle.
What does it smell like?
Warm and cozy: sweet orange and vanilla over cedarwood.
Does it ship with beef orders?
Tallow skincare ships on its own, separate from frozen beef.
Handmade in small batches, so color and texture can vary a little from bottle to bottle. Please check the ingredients for allergies before use.
