Shipping details
How is it packed?
Every cut is vacuum-sealed and frozen solid, then packed in a premium insulated box under a layer of dry ice so it stays frozen — or at worst under 40°F — all the way to your porch. Beef and tallow in the same order arrive as two packages: the beef on dry ice, the tallow at room temperature. A little dry ice left in the box is normal; don't touch it bare-handed.
When do you ship, and what's the cutoff?
Every Tuesday. Order by Thursday at noon Mountain time to ship the following Tuesday; anything after that ships the week after. We ship Tuesday so nothing sits in a warehouse over a weekend.
How long does delivery take?
Usually 2–3 business days from the day it ships, depending on where you are. You'll get a tracking email the moment the label prints.
What carrier do you use?
UPS or FedEx, whichever gets to you fastest.
Do you ship to P.O. boxes or rural routes?
Street addresses only — no P.O., A.P.O. or F.P.O. We happily ship to rural routes because we know what it's like to live out in the boonies; just give us a complete address, a phone number and any instructions for the driver.
Do I need to be home?
No signature is required. The insulated box and dry ice buy you some time on the porch, but get it into the freezer as soon as you can — if you'll be away all day, ship it to work or a neighbor and put a note in the order.
Can bad weather delay my order?
Occasionally. Deep cold, blizzards or a carrier outage in your zip code can hold a shipment a day or two, and once in a while we'll hold an order a week rather than risk it. We'll email you if that happens.
What if the address is wrong?
Please check it carefully. Because the beef is perishable we can't refund an order that's delayed or rerouted by an address error, and once you have a shipping confirmation the carrier owns the delivery. If something goes wrong on our end, email us a photo and we'll make it right.
My box arrived partly thawed. Is it safe?
Yes, as long as the beef is still cold to the touch (under 40°F). Partially thawed beef is safe to refreeze or to thaw the rest of the way and cook. If it arrived warm, email a photo to info@sranchmeats.com and we'll make it right.
How long does it keep in the freezer?
Up to a year. Everything is vacuum-sealed in heavy packaging for a long freezer life — stock the freezer in the fall and eat ranch beef all winter.
Does tallow ship with my beef?
No — tallow skincare ships separately for a flat $5.99 anywhere in the U.S. and needs no refrigeration. Beef and tallow in one order arrive as two packages.
